Eye Care For You : Laser Vision Correction Surgery

Eye being one of the most sensitive of our sense organs requires a lot of care and protection to serve us longer and better. Routine eye testing is the best way to keep a record of the health of our eyes and timely treatment if required.

Usually a person’s eyes starts to diminish in functioning after the age of 45 years, and everybody over this age should ensure to get a Routine Eye Testing done as advised by his/her doctor. Besides, people suffering from diseases like Diabetes and such other problems which affect the eyes need to go for frequent and regular eye test to ensure that the problem doesn’t get aggravated.

Meanwhile, there are many people who are not equally blessed and suffer from vision problems since an early age and are required to use glasses or if required need to undergo surgery for correction of their vision. The vision correction surgeries have improved from what they used to be a few decades back and now the better technologies save us from a long and painful procedure and help in faster healing and better results.

The Laser Vision Correction Surgery or more appropriately LASIK surgery, has been a big innovation for people requiring rectification and cataract eye surgery. Due to the shorter time required to undergo the surgery and fast recovery after a LASIK, people who have been wearing glasses or lenses for poor vision, have become more keen on getting their vision corrected, thus saving them from wearing spectacles or lenses.

Usually the eye surgery consultant advises you for a surgery after finding you fit to undergo the same. In such a case, the focus of your lenses are corrected with a laser beam that is done through a lesser invasive procedure thus requiring less time to recover after the surgery. In fact, you can return home immediately after the surgery and do not require to stay in the hospital for post operative recovery. Besides, within one week of the surgery you get fit to get back to work without any problem.

Though commercially getting operational only after the year 1991, laser treatment is now considered to be the best option to correct astigmatism, long sightedness and short sightedness. The procedure has seen a rapid progress and has reached and being practiced widely in all the countries across the world.

Though the facility of Lasik surgery is available in most of the cities in our country, yet people from remote villages have to travel to big cities to find a good eye care hospital in India. The smaller towns are yet to get their share of the best treatment and especially surgical treatment in countries like ours. Besides, patients from neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka travel to Indian cities to get good eye care facilities.

Besides, all those people who do not fit well for undergoing a LASIK surgery for any particular reason, do not require to be upset as other non-surgical services are available today like lens exchange etc, that help them improve vision and live a better life.
